MURDER IN HOLLYOAKS: FAREWELL KIERON

Hollyoaks bid farewell to Kieron Hobbs today, after he was murdered by John Paul’s secret brother Niall Rafferty.

In a bid to make it look like suicide after Kieron and John Paul’s relationship hit the rocks, Niall placed an overdose of something-or-other in Kieron’s lager as he sat and confessed his sins to the once holier-than-though Father Kieron.

It has long since been suspected and reported that Jake Hendricks, who plays Kieron, would be leaving the show in dramatic style. Sadly, it couldn’t have come at a worse time, with his and John Paul’s relationship beginning to grow strong not just in the show, but with the fans, too.

In my opinion, John Paul’s relationship with Kieron was, although rocky at first, fresher, cleaner and somewhat more believable than the relationship JP shared with Craig Dean.

John Paul disappointed me by jumping into bed with Craig - it doesn’t matter who you love and how many; cheating on the man you supposedly love is not acceptable.

Alas, I digress, and I’m supposed to be impartial anyway. So another dramatic death in Hollyoaks - all at the hands of Niall Rafferty. And it only gets worse (uh, I mean… better!) in the weeks to come with one of the McQueen sisters being killed off in an ‘explosive’ episode yet to come.

Watch this space! Oh, and the video below - it’s a fond farewell to Kieron Hobbs.
[Note: The availability of the video cannot be guaranteed. Should it fail, please be nice and report it in the comments section. Thanks!]

As brilliant as the plot was and the killing of Jake Hendricks character Fr. Keiron. I must admit that his relationship with John-Paul was the reason that I started to watch Hollyoaks again after loosing interest with it years ago.

I used to watch it when it first started so long ago but as with all soaps your interest shifts.

The angst of both characters, the pain and uncertainty came across really well and thats due to the talent of both Jake and James.

I hope that the storylines will hold my attention now that I watch regularly. The loss of Jake not at least as a great bit of eye candy, brought a great lump to my throat. Yep! Men do cry whether gay or not.

RIP Father Keiron, you will be sorely missed by many!

Totally agree, Jace69. It’s such a shame they killed Kieron off just as they were becoming much more likeable as a couple.

I much prefer Kieron and JP as a couple than JP and Craig. Disappointing end, to be honest - I just hope there’s no ’sunset ending’ that all the fanatics seem to be demanding.

    Jace69,

You’re not the only viewer, who felt that Kieron and JP were a much more likeable couple, but I guess dysfunction is the name of the game in serialised fictional dramas.

I know this might look like I’m rambling but I’m not.

Anyone who has lost a loved one, will identify with how JPs character was feeling when he went to say goodbye at Keirons grave.

Phoning his mobile and leaving his last words was such a heartwrenching moment.
I freely admit I was in floods of tears!
Haven’t cried like that since I saw Brokeback Mtn.

I do think that the writers could have allowed JP. a greater expression of raw emotion.
Irrespective of that, I applaude James for his scene at the grave.

Just as Lee,Ellie and Denise above do, I hope JP doesn’t go to Dublin, especially after telling Craig to ‘Go out there and find his Keiron and hold on to him’.

I did at 21 and lost him, but at least he wasn’t killed.

Lastly, we all know that James is leaving the show too. I really hope that his and
Jake Hendricks departing Hollyoaks wasn’t, as I assume that they are both straight, not because they were afraid of being tarnished with a ‘gay’ tag, as was speculated with Coronation St.
